About Us!

Cat

Hello! I am the proud owner of the BodyPod. After running it as a one-woman-show for 3 1/2 years, I am now going on maternity so it's the perfect time to build a wonderful team to look after your bodies' needs whilst I'm gone (Sept 2024 - Whenever I can drag myself away!)

I originally trained at The Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork, who run an intensive and comprehensive course covering everything from anatomy and physiology to energy work and therapeutic approaches. I have also been teaching there for the last 2 years and have found it an incredible experience to share massage with a whole range of budding therapists!

My particular interest has been how massage can be used to alleviate anxiety and the effects of long term stress on the body. My surprise in how little the general public knew about this spurred me on to start spreading the word and educating people in their bodies.

Having previously trained in Body Psychotherapy and Postural Integration, I use many skills and approaches from that in my work. I am polyvagal (trauma) informed and have much experience working with the bodymind to facilitate emotional healing as well as physical.

I am experienced in working with all the body's systems and tailor my massages to your individual needs. Whether it be pinpointing a particular muscular problem or helping your body process long-term stress, I will work with you to create a bespoke treatment plan.

I offer the following massages or a mixture of techniques if you would prefer:

  • Holistic massage (includes a bespoke mixture of swedish/deep tissue massage, stretches, percussion, energy work)

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Pregnancy massage

  • Massage for alleviating headaches and migraines

  • Massage for sciatica or frozen shoulder

  • Visceral massage for gut health

  • MFR (myofascial release)

  • Deep Massage - The Lauterstein Method

  • Acupressure Facial Therapy massage

  • Simple Lymph Draining (with a tutorial for you to DIY!)

  • 5 Rhythms Massage

  • Eastern Foot Massage

  • Massage for Women's Health

As a previous primary school teacher, my love of learning has definitely not been contained to the classroom. I don't think I will ever stop enjoying learning and growing. It's who I am.

Katie - Remedial Sports Massage
(Wednesdays)

Hi! My name is Katie. I have recently qualified from BCMBs Remedial and Sports Massage (RSM) Level 5 Diploma and I have been practicing complementary therapies since 2018. Working holistically is very important to me so I make sure to get a good understanding of what's going on for you. I have been working at The Hampton Spa as a massage therapist for over two years, alongside my studying. Being able to be here at The Body Pod once a week means I get to put these new skills to use which I am very excited about! I look forward to meeting you.

What to expect during a treatment with me would be an in depth case history, particularly if you're coming in with injuries - old; new or a particular goal/focus. Then we move on to a postural assessment during which I will be making notes as we go as well a palpation to see what's going on and where! After this we sit down and collaborate on a treatment plan, whether you're coming in for a one off session or 6 - I want you to know why we are doing what we are doing. After the hands on treatment - I will go through some aftercare with you which again is tailored to fit in with your lifestyle.

Rebecca - Thai Massage
(Tuesdays)

Hi, I'm Rebecca. A Thai massage therapist and yoga teacher, alongside my career in International Development where I spent a decade overseas managing poverty reduction programmes. I have now returned home to Bristol where I combine my passion for large scale social justice with my love for the healing qualities of yoga and massage at an individual level. Thai massage gives me and the recipient the opportunity to slow down, be still and feel, listen and trust.

Jez - Holistic Massage
(Thursdays)

Hi, I’m Jez, a holistic massage therapist offering intuitive massage tailored to your needs. I trained at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB), gaining a Holistic Massage MTI level 4 Diploma. I believe that massage is a crucial part of maintaining overall health and wellbeing, as well as a way to release the stress within the body that can lead to aches, pains, fatigue and other ailments.

When we meet, there will be an initial consultation to find out about your lifestyle, general health and where you are experiencing tension or pain. Using my knowledge of anatomy and physiology we will work together to plan a massage that will help you to feel relaxed, restored and ready to take on the world once again.

As a secondary school teacher, tutor and enthusiastic runner, cyclist and climber I have experienced the joy and rejuvenation of massage for an active body, postural aches and pains from work and release from mental busyness and stress in my own life and love supporting others to experience the extensive benefits of holistic massage in every persons unique journey through life.

Sam - Holistic Massage
(Mondays)

Hi, I'm Sam, a level 4 holistic massage therapist and bodyworker taught and trained by Cat and the other tutors at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork which is accredited by the Massage Training Institute. Outside of doing bodywork, I've spent the last decade working in sustainable food and farming, working to support a change in the way we connect with our food and our environment and currently also work for a small regenerative farm in Bath doing just that.

Prior to becoming qualified, injury from climbing, running and cycling forced me to recognise the necessity of taking greater care of my physical body if I wanted to continue enjoying these interests; these experiences also helped me tackle my own battles with mental illness and stress and led me to realise the true value and power in reconnecting both mind, body and spirit as a whole. These learned and lived insights have driven a want to help others seeking just that; be it physical strain, mental drain or an energetic dip and a need for nourishing, restorative and supportive touch.

Massage is a powerful tool that can guide a person back to a fuller version of themselves: a bit looser, a bit lighter and a bit clearer. In our sessions, I'll meet you from where you stand and work with you using a directed and intuitive touch that matches your needs that day.

Deborah - Holistic Massage

Hi, I’m Deborah. I trained at The Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB) one of the most reputable massage schools in the UK, gaining a Massage Training Institute Level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage.

I am developing my work further through training in CranioSacral Therapy (CST) with the Upledger Institute UK. Some of these techniques are included in my treatments. CST is a clothes-on, therapy where the touch is gentle, non-invasive and usually subtle.

Having worked for many years as a sculptor and community artist, my style and approach to bodywork incorporates

  • Strength and sensitivity of touch

  • An ability to ‘read' and ‘listen' with my hands

  • Communication and listening skills

  • Curiosity and care towards others

  • A preference for collaboration.
